Lieutenant Colonel Gilbert Procter Jr.

"DADDY DRAGON"
Battalion Commander... 1st Bn., 14th Infantry  1966 - 1967

"Today, our Commander for 27 months, was transferred...  His
performance for these two and a quarter years was so magnificent
that words will fail to do him justice...  He has been our true
combat leader in every sense of the word.  His farewell
plaque is inscribed:

"HE SET THE EXAMPLE IN ALL THINGS"

His awards for combat included the Air Medal with Oak Leaf
Cluster, the Bronze Star Medal with "V" for heroism,  the
Legion of Merit for Meritorious Service, and the Silver Star
for Gallantry.  He earned them all, every day.
